BIG IDEA, INC. First Episode of Groundbreaking Series
Features All New Gideon: Tuba Warrior FRANKLIN, TN (November 15, 2006)
— Attention all VeggieTales’ fans! Bob, Larry and the rest of
their Veggie friends are again making broadcast history with the
launch of the first ever official Veggie Tales Radio Show, a 14-part
radio series created from some of the most beloved VeggieTales
videos ever made. Just in time for holiday travels, Big Idea, Inc.
will give radio stations the opportunity to play some of their
favorite VeggieTales shows beginning November 20 with Gideon:
Tuba Warrior, the brand new VeggieTales DVD, based on the
legendary biblical story. Renaissance Communications founder and president Joe Battaglia
serves as producer of the radio series and was responsible for
translating each of the VeggieTales episodes into a 30-minute
radio-friendly audio format. “We have always believed that a VeggieTales radio show would be
core to Christian radio’s desire for family-friendly
entertainment, and will ultimately be embraced by radio in general,”
notes Battaglia. “We’ve so enjoyed partnering with Big Idea
during the last five years on the promotion of the video releases,
and are thankful to them for allowing us the opportunity to produce
this radio version of the best-selling video series.” VeggieTales Radio is hosted by none other than the ever-popular
Larry the Cucumber, who makes radio history as the first talking
vegetable to front a national radio show. “I am honored to be a
part of this historic occasion with the launch of VeggieTales Radio,”
says Larry the Cucumber. “And I wouldn’t be surprised if this
groundbreaking event set the stage for a vegetable like myself to be
inducted into the Broadcast Hall of Fame.” Complete with a new introduction and ending exclusively produced
for radio, the first six titles of the programming line-up include: Gideon Tuba Warrior Other classic episodes to follow are: King George and the
Ducky, LarryBoy and the Bad Apple, Madame Blueberry, Rack, Shack
& Benny, LarryBoy and the Fib from Outer Space, LarryBoy and the
Rumor Weed, Lyle the Kindly Viking, and Minnesota Cuke and
the Search for Samson’s Hairbrush. The radio versions of
these stories were carefully edited to make them as authentic as
their video counterparts, complete with the original Silly Song
segments VeggieTales fans have come to love and expect. Each
30-minute episode includes two 2-minute commercial breaks, with one
minute of each break available for the radio station’s use. To
encourage widespread radio participation, Big Idea will give
interested stations the opportunity to first hear a program demo by
logging onto www.bigidea.com/radioshow.
The radio page also contains detailed information about the series
and a link for radio stations to register. Upon approval from Big
Idea, radio registrants will be provided with a user name and
password to access the site, along with instructions on how to
download each episode and the suggested order of shows beginning the
week of November 20. The service is free and participating stations
are asked to commit the VeggieTales programming to a regular weekly
timeslot.
